It’s 3:56 AM – do you know where your spouse is?

If your spouse is anything like myself, they probably are locked in front of a monitor or laptop. While some might describe this as an addiction to technology, being a work-a-holic, etc. I prefer to describe those of us who are hard core engineers as ‘Work Enthusiasts’.

We take great pride in our work and can solve vast problems. Create entire worlds of code and adapt our minds to think in linear and non-linear modes of thought. But, what stops us? Often, it is the tiniest of software bugs that tend to be the largest hindrance(s) to on-time delivery of your product.

So, this is my first entry and it is aptly titled to reflect the following:

1) That I am going to make my way upstairs.
2) I will inevitably wake my wife up
3) She’ll want to know what time it is
4) I’ll reply “It’s not too late… it’s after 1am”
5) She’ll reply “Which means it’s 4am…. ugh”

In closing I am reminded of the adage “Behind every great man is a great woman”. My more modern geek take on this is “Behind every driven programmer is a spouse or other that knows they can’t change them. But loves them anyway”
